The raven is an important figure in Icelandic folklore and mythology. Huginn and Muninn are a pair of Ravens that flew all over the world, Midgard, and brought information back to the norse god Odin. The viking Hrafna-Flóki (Ravens-Flóki) sent his birds to find land as he sailed onward towards Iceland. The raven can be found in Icelandic names (both peoples and places), in various symbols and quite frequently in poetry.
